Corpus Christi School successfully achieved the nationally recognised Arts Mark Award. This award is part of a nationwide scheme funded by the Arts Council and administered through Trinity College, London. Arts Mark is a quality mark which recognises and celebrates schools whose pupils have high attainment in art, drama, dance, photography and music.
In order to achieve Arts Mark Award, schools need to have a broad based arts curriculum in every year group. They are also required to demonstrate that a high percentage of their children take part in arts based after school and holiday clubs. Corpus Christi was extremely successful in both aspects. We provided clubs in watercolour painting, printmaking, dance, ukulele, recorders, choir, drama, play script writing and performance, needlecraft and film studies. Our rich curriculum includes regular dance workshops with guest artists, drama performances, visits to art galleries and live music events.
‘You are clearly an Arts Mark school. You have a well led and considered approach to the Arts and have used the new curriculum to enhance delivery across the school. It has been a pleasure to validate your application.’
