In September, Year 5 attended Beamish Museum as part of our Victorians topic.
The children travelled on Victorian trams and buses and looked at the range of artefacts to gain an insight into Victorian life.
We took part in two workshops. The first was a Victorian school lesson, which gave children an insight into how Victorian education is different to our education system. We also completed the James White experience. The children had to ask various people associated with the coal mine how James had died at the age of 12 working down the mine. The visit culminated in children going down the mine to experience the working conditions.
