EYFS - Nursery
Welcome to our Nursery class page ...
The Early Year's Foundation Stage provides opportunities for Nursery and Reception aged children to work together with the support of a highly qualified and experienced Early Year's Foundation team of practitioners. This provides a greater opportunity for children's individual needs to be met so that they are more able to reach their full potential.
At Corpus Christi Primary School Miss Boxall is the EYFS Leader and Nursery teacher. In Nursery the teaching assistants are Miss Ford and Mrs Wood and their role includes supporting the children in the setting and carrying out daily interventions.
Talk for Stories
Miss Ford works with three groups during the session and each half term the children focus on three traditonal stories. In Talk for Stories the children are able to talk about the characters, setting and what happened in a familiar story, work alongside their group to create a story map and use puppets, masks and actions to act out the story.
Mrs Wood's intervention group supports boys to improve their fine motor skills on a daily basis. The activities include threading, using tweezers/pegs, finger painting and cutting skills.
Children are encoraged to read at home with their parents/gaurdians and we have a lending library in class. On Wednesday children have the opportunity to choose a reading book with their parent/guardian. On a Friday children read their book with their class teacher and are able to change their book for the weekend. Sharing books is a very special time that helps children's development.
