The school was awarded the Leading Parent Partnership Award for the period of 3 years from July 2015.

Strengths Identified in the Review

  • Working effectively with the parents is at the core of the school and finances have been allocated to employ a family support liaison officer. There is a very supportive network for the families.
  • The school has used the LPPA process as a way of evaluating the way it works with the parents and has used it as a diagnostic tool to further develop parental engagement.
  • The school knows its stakeholders very well and adapts it approaches accordingly. Due to effective interaction the parents really trust the school.
  • The LPPA has been developed effectively in the school and the staff have been involved in all aspects. They are committed to parental partnership.
  • The school is determined to reach out to all families and is very flexible in its approaches.
  • The Governors are involved and well informed about the LPPA.
  • The staff are very approachable. Parents are confident to ask questions and share concerns.
  • The school is very clear about the next steps in developing partnership working with parents.
  • A Parent Consultation Group had been used effectively to provide the school with feedback.
  • The school has ensured that any changes it makes are fed back to the parents, celebrating their contribution to school development.
  • The parents appreciate the range of courses which are available to them.
  • Communication between school and home is effective and the parents feel well informed about events and how their children are progressing. The reports are free of educational jargon.
  • The children are very proud of their school and say it is a place where, “…staff are kind and helpful, everyone is friendly, caring and positive and the parents are well informed.”

Areas for Development

  • To further develop family learning opportunities through initiatives such as the FAST programme.
  • To ensure parents are kept informed about changes to the curriculum (September 2014) and the end of year expectations.
